Babworth Crematorium goes the eggstra mile

Babworth Crematorium has given 120 Easter eggs to two local organisations who care for and support poorly children and their families.

Just before Easter, Crematorium Assistant Karen Shooter delivered 80 chocolate eggs to the children’s ward at Bassetlaw Hospital and 40 to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

The eggs were donated by local Funeral Directors and a celebrant, and it’s the first time that Babworth Crematorium has organised such a collection and donation.

Babworth Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, the UK’s largest independent owner and operator of crematoria and cemeteries, with 37 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, all set within beautifully-landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.

Babworth Crematorium’s Manager, Amanda Carr said: “We are very grateful to everyone who donated Easter eggs to our collection; they were all very happy to support us and said they thought it was a lovely idea.

“We decided to donate not only to the children’s ward at Bassetlaw Hospital in the end, but also provided eggs for other wards which have young patients, such as A&E, and also to give something to brothers and sisters who are visiting poorly siblings.

“Bluebell Wood supports children with long-term illnesses and their families.

“The charity also tries to grant wishes for the children, too, which can make such a positive difference to their lives during particularly difficult and distressing times.

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be able to do something just to help spread a little smile to local children and to show our support to these two organisations, for all the positive work they do to support local families.”
